Year 10 and Year 11
Over the next two years you will be working towards GCSE and equivalent qualifications. In year 9 you will have be given a pathway os subjects which are best suited to your future progression in Years 10 and 11. You will be given plenty of advice regarding the option choices available within your pathway and the opportunity to discuss these with teachers and senior leaders during option interviews and a special options evening. It is essential that you choose a wide a variety of subjects as possible so that you gain a broad and well balanced education that will leave your future options at 16 much more open.
Everyone's timetable will be made up of Core subjects and Options.
The 5 core subjects everyone has to study are as follows:
- English Language and English Literature
- Dual or Triple Science
- Physical Education
- Religious Education
In addition to the core subjects and depending on which pathway you are allocated, you will study some of the following options, either:
GCSE: These are traditional academic qualifications and are assessed through exams and the end of Year 11.
- Food Technology
- Product Design
- Computer Science
- English as an additional language
- Business studies
- Health and Social Care
- Prince's Trust
College:We also have a limited number of college-based vocational courses on offer, amongst which Construction, Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Hair & Beauty. Your teachers will speak to you about your suitability to attend college days during Year 9
