Year 7 Catch Up Funding

What is Catch Up funding and who receives it?

The literacy and numeracy Catch up Premium helps schools provide additional support in literacy and numeracy to pupils. The funding is targeted towards those students who do not meet age related expectations in numeracy and literacy at KS2. Schools receive £500 for each year 7 pupil who fits the criteria. The Co-operative Academy is committed to raising the standards of literacy and numeracy for such students so that learners can accelerate their progress in year 7 which will enable them to fully access the curriculum throughout their school career.

For 2015-16 the school received £40,500.  93 of our students were level 3 or below though we received funding for 81 students due to not having KS2 data for 12 who were new to the country. 112 of our intake attained 4C or below in English, while 100 students attained 4C or below in maths; many of our students were significantly below. The Premium was used in a variety of ways, for a variety of purposeful and tailored interventions.  This report outlines the ways in which the Premium was distributed and the impact on attainment and accelerated progress that was seen.
