Year 10 Content

Performance as a group

This is when you prepare a level two standard performance and rehearse as a group to perform to an audience which will be recorded.

Arrangement

You will take music you already know and arrange it using the computer or notation for instruments using techniques and devices that will be taught in tandem with the listening work.

Areas of study  - classical music

These are given by the exam board each year but cover the history of music through specific listening work. You will learn how to identify features by ear and learn to answer exam questions.  

Year 11 Content

Solo performance

This is when you prepare a level two standard performance as a solo and rehearse to perform to an audience which will be recorded.

Composition

You will create your own music using either music technology or instruments using devices and techniques you have learnt about through the listening work.

Key pieces  - contemporary  music

These are given by the exam board each year and will cover the history of music through specific listening work. You will learn how to identify features by ear and learn to answer exam questions.
