Powering transformation with Dell and Transformation Trust

In partnership with Dell and The Transformation Trust, the Year 9 students took part in a 'Powering Transformation' workshop at Leeds University.
Powering Transformation is a fully funded, one day programme where students utilise the latest Dell technology in a collaborative problem-solving exercise with a focus on community activism.
The day started with a tour of the University before the students settled down for a short talk focusing on the IT industry. The students were then split into groups and given a problem solving exercise - to identify a local social issue and then propose a technological solution to that issue.
Using the Dell equipment provided, students were tasked with researching, planning and recording an interesting and engaging video and presentation, outlining the issue or problem, why it matters to them and proposing and developing a technological solution to it.
The teams exhibited their presentations at the end of the session, with the Dell and Transformation staff picking a winner. The winning group will now go on to pitch their ideas against those of other schools, with the chance of winning lots of Dell goodies like tablets and laptops.
