'Achievement for All' conference

Here at the Academy we speak over 70 languages; our students come from all over the world and many speak English as second language.
Three of our EAL students - Ahmed Zahedi, Fatima Doudai and Salima Drammeh - were invited to open the 'Achievement for All' conference being held at Elland Road in front of around 100 senior leaders from schools around Leeds.
The students each made a speech about how the Academy has helped them. They talked about the many opportunities the Academy has given them, including extra-curricular activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, setting up businesses through LEAP Enterprise, and being elected as head boy/girl.
The students spoke about how the academy has high expectations for them and has supported them to develop their English and achieve more highly, giving them confidence and helping them aim high in their future lives.
After the conference each student received a personal letter of thanks from the organisers - Leeds for Learning - praising them for their contributions and maturity. We are very proud of Ahmed, Fatima and Salima for having the confidence to speak in front of so many people and for representing the Academy so well. We are even prouder of the progress they have each made since joining the Academy.
