Power2 award celebration

Just before half-term some of our Year 8 and 9 girls completed their Power 2 (formally known as Teens and Toddlers) placement. As a celebration of their achievement we invited the girls' families and course co-ordinators Tracey and Marcus to the academy.

It was quite the celebration, with the girls creating scrapbooks for Marcus and Tracey as thank-yous for helping them and laying on a spread of treats for everyone.

The programme is a 16-18 week placement where the girls mentor a small child in a nursery or primary school setting for one and half hours per week. The girls also received classroom time where they had youth coaching and took part in group work designed to increase confidence and aspirations. The course also helps the participants work towards a national award in Personal and Social Development.

We are proud to say the girls did really well and received glowing feedback for their efforts:

"As a centre we have been very pleased with your students and how quickly they have settled with us.

Our children are really enjoying their special play time with them, and the staff in the rooms have also said how enthusiastic, chatty and interactive the students are.

It has been a pleasure to have them here. A big well done to all of them and thank you for choosing our nursery."- Jane Clark

It is fantastic to see what our students can achieve in the Academy and beyond.
